²銝蜓撠å抅驱瑞´隤迎¼?·罚辶雿删°䔿憭芸¤¼?睲¸滩æ蝐喳吨璆鈭文銁隞硋烐衤叶嚗?滚¾隞亥å撠齿隤牧嚗糓è撌梁å睲º撌唏	²And the Lord said to Gedeon: The people that are with thee are many, and Madian shall not be delivered into their hands: lest Israel should glory against me, and say: I was delivered by my own strength.
³çå銁雿㰘¦烐°䔿摰?牧嚗摰单闹鼗ç虾隞亘䞶绦嚗?仿罚é钅体ㄐã齿䲰æ糓瘗䔿銝剜劐º?鈭?䞶绦嚗?蘨å?銝衤¸è鈭箝	³Speak to the people, and proclaim in the hearing of all, I Whosoever is fearful and timorous, let him return. So two and twenty thousand men went away from mount Galaad and returned home, and only ten thousand remained.
⁴銝蜓å?°å抅驱瑞´隤迎¼?°䔿é糓憭芸¤¼偦䀝»硋睲¸见?瘗涌绦嚗?¦銁é鋆∠雿䭾炎撽»硋㻫æ穃迄雿㰘牧嚗嗘荦å虾å?½惩绦嚗?»硋停è½惩?绦嚗æ穃迄雿㰘牧嚗嗘荦銝滚虾å?½惩绦嚗?»硋停銝滚虾å绦ã	⁴And the Lord said to Gedeon: The people are still too many, bring them to the waters, and there I will try them: and of whom I shall say to thee, This shall go with thee, let him go: whom I shall forbid to go, let him return.
⁵隞硋停撘闹°䔿銝见?瘗涌¼¸蜓åå抅驱瑞´隤迎¼?ç鍂è?è娍偌å雠娍偌隡潜¼?°»硋穃®厩荫å銁銝è¼?见嚗?撅?肽楫銝钅ㄡ瘗渡¼?°»硋穃®厩荫å銁銝è	⁵And when the people were come down to the waters, the Lord said to Gedeon: They that shall lap the water with their tongues, as dogs are wont to lap, thou shalt set apart by themselves: but they that shall drink bowing down their knees, shall be on the other side.
⁶ç鍂æ擀å?å狍é娍偌çæ劐¸厩参鈭绰¼擗䀹°䔿éæ糓撅?肽楫銝见脲偌ã	⁶And the number of them that had lapped water, casting it with the hand to their mouth, was three hundred men: and all the rest of the multitude had drunk kneeling.
⁷銝蜓撠å抅驱瑞´隤迎¼?¦鍂é嗘¸厩参è娍偌ç荦æ墙æ睲½惩¼?蝐喳吨璆鈭斗䲰雿䭾衤叶ã®枏擗条°䔿å墧åå绦ã	⁷And the Lord said to Gedeon: By the three hundred men, that lapped water, I will save you, and deliver Madian into thy hand: but let all the rest of the people return to their place.
⁸å抅驱瑞´靘辐嗘¸°䔿ç½?蠘§¼?梶䔄ç䔿隞亥å鈭筝噼撌梁董挢¼?蘨ç嗘¸衤¸厩参鈭箝蝐喳吨璆ç笔¹訫停å銁隞硋睲¸钅ç像å蠘ㄐã	⁸So taking victuals and trumpets according to their number, he ordered all the rest of the multitude to depart to their tents: and he with the three hundred gave himself to the battle. Now the camp of Madian was beneath him in the valley.
⁹ç訜憭靝¸蜓撠滢»牧嚗?丝靘¼?¸见绦æç¼穃歇撠訽ç煺漱å銁雿䭾衤叶鈭	⁹The same night the Lord said to him: Arise, and go down into the camp: because I have delivered them into thy hand.
¹⁰愦靝½¸鈭筝拿æ蓥¸见绦嚗?虾掸嗡½删辶驱æ芦颲£銝韏瑚¸见?ç笔¹¼	¹⁰But if thou be afraid to go alone, let Phara thy servant go down with thee.
¹¹è隞硋牧隞暻潘¼诳驱?½删见停æ 拨嚗?佅銝见绦æç煺º齿䲰æ糓隞硋?»辶驱æ芦颲£靘蹂¸见绦嚗?¾?ç煺叶擏鞱»滨滚ã	¹¹And when thou shalt hear what they are saying, then shall thy hands be strengthened, and thou shalt go down more secure to the enemies' camp. And he went down with Phara his servant into part of the camp, where was the watch of men in arms.
¹²éæ蝐喳吨璆ãé燵ç麐è见å?æ䲮ç鼗°煾æ袇雿?銁挢喳蠘ㄐ嚗?¤¦酑嚗»硋妤擏苷¸滚虾å脲彍嚗?¤¦丝é羓²嗵²鉝	¹²But Madian and Amalec, and all the eastern people lay scattered in the valley, as a multitude of locusts: their camels also were innumerable as the sand that lieth on the sea shore.
¹³å抅驱瑞´靘?æ¼?迤æ劐¸å衤荦蝯虫»?捞雓丐隤迎¼?睲½靝º¸å见丐嚗劐¸å见之暻仿熊擗沓å蝐喳吨璆ç笔嚗?凒皛晓穃董挢¼?°董挢闹䞶¼蕃頧㗇苷¸	¹³And when Gedeon was come, one told his neighbour a dream: and in this manner related what he had seen: I dreamt a dream, and it seemed to me as if a hearth cake of barley bread rolled and came down into the camp of Madian: and when it was come to a tent it struck it, and beat it down flat to the ground.
¹⁴隞?捞å䂿磰牧嚗?嗘¸齿糓åç¼?蹱糓隞亥å鈭º蝝燵憯«ç鍦å抅驱瑞´çå㵪¼予銝饺歇æ蝐喳吨璆ååç煺漱æ䲰隞衤叶ã	¹⁴He to whom he spoke, answered: This is nothing else but the sword of Gedeon the son of Joas a man of Israel. For the Lord hath delivered Madian, and all their camp into his hand.
¹⁵å抅驱瑞´銝è阆钅坔丐ç䁅腻å?圾é页¼?停æ脲予銝鸣¼驱?䞶?隞亥åç煺叶隤迎¼?丝靘¼删銝蜓撌唇°蝐喳吨璆ç笔¹蓥漱å銁雿惩烐衤叶鈭	¹⁵And when Gedeon had heard the dream, and the interpretation thereof, he adored: and returned to the camp of Israel, and said: Arise, for the Lord hath delivered the camp of Madian into our hands.
¹⁶隞䲰æ糓æ¸厩参鈭筝½靝¸厂¼?蠘§鍦?征蝵漱å銁瘥譍荦æ衤叶嚗?羓æå銁蝵鞱ㄐ嚗	¹⁶And he divided the three hundred men into three parts, and gave them trumpets in their hands, and empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.
¹⁷ç驱?å»硋牧嚗?½惩烐举见銵?¼?½惩睲噶æ举见銵?¼¸å?ç笔¹閖¸¼?烐举见雿頣¼?½惩睲¹蠘¦举见雿栶	¹⁷And he said to them: What you shall see me do, do you the same: I will go into one part of the camp, and do you as I shall do.
¹⁸ç訜æ·罚辶æ荦åè蠘§埝¼?½惩睲¹㕑府å銁ç笔¹訫åè蠘§¼?蒂銝㙈嚗銝蜓嚗?å抅驱瑞´嚗	¹⁸When the trumpet shall sound in my hand, do you also blow the trumpets on every side of the camp.
¹⁹å銁銝㗇凒銋见嘅¼?訜ååæ偦俈ç辷¼å抅驱瑞´é 䁅»㚚銝ç参鈭箔¾?ç笔¹閖¸¼?韏瑁蠘§雴¾¼?梶聦æ衤叶ç½僐	¹⁹And Gedeon, and the three hundred men that were with him, went into part of the camp, at the beginning of the midnight watch, and the watchmen being alarmed, they began to sound their trumpets, and to clap the pitchers one against another.
²⁰å?¸厂¸朣è蠘§¼?梶聦蝵琜¼?椰æ嚉è㛖æ¼?æ嚉è蠘§鍦嚗?蒂å㙈隤迎¼?å滨銝蜓嚗?å抅驱瑞´嚗	²⁰And when they sounded their trumpets in three places round about the camp, and had broken their pitchers, they held their lamps in their left hands, and with their right hands the trumpets which they blew, and they cried out: The sword of the Lord and of Gedeon;
²¹ç䔿鈭粹å銁ç笔¹訫嚗?«坔銁è撌梁æ䲮ãæ訽ç罚©¼?ºº«	²¹Standing every man in his place round about the enemies' camp. So all the camp was troubled, and crying out and howling they fled away.
²²ç訜é銝厩参鈭筝è蠘§垍辷¼?¸蜓雿踵訽ç煺º垍㮾æ闹捏ã诳驱?肽鞎砍㘾é¾鞎萘鹱å蟮憭§嚗?凒å?é撠憛毁ç鹱çé燵鞎肽哟»䀹æã	²²And the three hundred men nevertheless persisted sounding the trumpets. And the Lord sent the sword into all the camp, and they killed one another,
²³éæ隞亥å鈭筝¾蝝齿¡娪ãé燵å?å暺条´滚ååé?¼?萧頞蝐喳吨璆ã	²³Fleeing as far as Bethsetta, and the border of Abelmahula in Tebbath. But the men of Israel shouting from Nephtali and Aser, and from all Manasses pursued after Madian.
²⁴å抅驱瑞´å?梶䔄雿辑?åå¼麾å 撅勖隤迎¼?«衤¸衤¾æ蝐喳吨璆鈭绰¼?銁隞硋穃滢½娍蝝½瘝喟腹å藁嚗?凒å?鞎萘鹱撌渲麾ã滚å¼麾å 鈭筝停é?¼?½娍纸º蝝½瘝喟腹å藁嚗?¸ç凒å?鞎萘鹱撌渲麾ã	²⁴And Gedeon sent messengers into all mount Ephraim, saying: Come down to meet Madian, and take the waters before them to Bethbera and the Jordan. And all Ephraim shouted, and took the waters before them and the Jordan as far as Bethbera.
²⁵隞硋烐劐½譍º蝐喳吨璆çå钅䁅¢吔¼?朗æ硋鍦¸åå¸嚗?銁æ硋鍦¸ç銝æ硋鍦¸畾箸香嚗?銁å¸éé埝±㰘ㄐæå¸畾箸香嚗诳驱?匮蝥?萧頞蝐喳吨璆鈭绰¼?蒂ææ硋鍦¸åå¸çé?蝝½撠滚硫å抅驱瑞´頝笔溻	²⁵And having taken two men of Madian, Oreb and Zeb: Oreb they slew in the rock of Oreb, and Zeb in the winepress of Zeb. And they pursued Madian, carrying the heads of Oreb and Zeb to Gedeon beyond the waters of the Jordan.
