| 1弟兄们，至论那时候与日期，不需要给你们写什么。 | 1But of the times and moments, brethren, you need not, that we should write to you; |
| 2你们原确实知道：主的日子要像夜间的盗贼一样来到。 | 2For yourselves know perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall so come, as a thief in the night. |
| 3几时人正说：「平安无事，」那时灭亡会猝然来到他们身上，就像痛苦来到怀孕者身上一样，决逃脱不了。 | 3For when they shall say, peace and security; then shall sudden destruction come upon them, as the pains upon her that is with child, and they shall not escape. |
| 4但是你们，弟兄们，你们不是在黑暗中，以致那日子像盗贼一样袭击你们； | 4But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. |
| 5你们众人都是光明之子和白日之子；我们不属于黑夜，也不属于黑暗。 | 5For all you are the children of light, and children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore, let us not sleep, as others do; but let us watch, and be sober. |
| 6所以我们不当像其他的人一样贪睡，却当醒寤清醒， | 6For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunk, are drunk in the night. |
| 7因为人睡觉是黑夜睡觉，喝醉的人是黑夜喝醉； | 7But let us, who are of the day, be sober, having on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. |
| 8但是我们做白日之子的，应当清醒，穿上信德和爱德作甲，戴上得救的望德作盔， | 8For God hath not appointed us unto wrath, but unto the purchasing of salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, |
| 9因为天主没有拣定我们为泄怒，而是藉我们的主耶稣基督为获得拯救， | 9Who died for us; that, whether we watch or sleep, we may live together with him. |
| 10他为我们死了，为叫我们不论醒寤或睡眠，都同他一起生活。 | 10For which cause comfort one another; and edify one another, as you also do. |
| 11为此，你们应互相安慰，彼此建树，就如你们所行的。 | 11And we beseech you, brethren, to know them who labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you: |
| 12弟兄们，我们还求你们尊敬那些在你们中劳苦，在主内管理你们和劝戒你们的人， | 12That you esteem them more abundantly in charity, for their work's sake. Have peace with them. |
| 13为了他们的工作，你们更应本着爱，重视他们；你们要彼此平安相处。 | 13And we beseech you, brethren, rebuke the unquiet, comfort the feeble minded, support the weak, be patient towards all men. |
| 14弟兄们，我们还劝勉你们：要劝戒闲荡的，宽慰怯懦的，扶持软弱的，容忍一切人！ | 14See that none render evil for evil to any man; but ever follow that which is good towards each other, and towards all men. |
| 15要小心：人对人不要以恶报恶，却要时常彼此勉励，互相善待，且善待一切人。 | 15Always rejoice. |
| 16应常欢乐， | 16Pray without ceasing. |
| 17不断祈祷， | 17In all things give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you all. |
| 18事事感谢：这就是天主在基督耶稣内对你们所有的旨意。 | 18Extinguish not the spirit. |
| 19不要消灭神恩， | 19Despise not prophecies. |
| 20不要轻视先知之恩； | 20But prove all things; hold fast that which is good. |
| 21但应当考验一切，好的，应保持； | 21From all appearance of evil refrain yourselves. |
| 22各种坏的，要远避。 | 22And may the God of peace himself sanctify you in all things; that your whole spirit, and soul, and body, may be preserved blameless in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 23愿赐平安的天主亲自完全圣化你们，将你们整个的神魂、灵魂和肉身，在我们的主耶稣基督来临时，保持的无瑕可指： | 23He is faithful who hath called you, who also will do it. |
| 24那召你们的是忠信的，他必实行。 | 24Brethren, pray for us. |
| 25弟兄们，你们也要为我们祈祷。 | 25Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss. |
| 26你们要以圣吻问候所有的弟兄。 | 26I charge you by the Lord, that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren. |
| 27我因主誓求你们，向众弟兄朗诵这封书信。 | 27The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. |
| 28愿我们的主耶稣基督的恩宠与你们同在！ | 28 |
