创世纪	Genesis
¹天主对雅各伯说：「起来，上贝特耳去，住在那里，为你昔日逃避你哥哥厄撒乌在那里显现给你的天主，筑一祭坛。」	¹In the meantime God said to Jacob: Arise, and go up to Bethel, and dwell there, and make there an altar to God, who appeared to thee when thou didst flee from Esau thy brother.
²雅各伯便对家人和跟随他的人说：「你们应除去你们中间所有外邦的神像，并取洁，更换衣服，	²And Jacob having called together all his household, said: Cast away the strange gods that are among you, and be cleansed and change your garments.
³因为我们要起身上贝特耳去；在那里我要给在我困苦的时日俯听了我，在我所走的路上伴随了我的天主，筑一祭坛。」	³Arise, and let us go up to Bethel, that we may make there an altar to God: who heard me in the day of my affliction, and accompanied me in my journey.
⁴众人便将自己手中所有外邦的神像，所有的耳环，都交给了雅各伯；雅各伯就都埋在那靠近舍根的橡树底下。	⁴So they gave him all the strange gods they had, and the earrings which were in their ears: and he buried them under the turpentine tree, that is behind the city of Sichem.
⁵当他们起程出发时，天主叫周围的城邑都非常恐怖，为此谁也不敢追赶雅各伯的儿子。	⁵And when they were departed, the terror of God fell upon all the cities round about, and they durst not pursue after them as they went away.
⁶这样，雅各伯和与他在一起的人，来到客纳罕地的路次，即贝特耳；	⁶And Jacob came to Luza, which is in the land of Chanaan, surnamed Bethel: he and all the people that were with him.
⁷他在那里筑了一座祭坛。称呼那地方为贝特耳，因为他逃避他哥哥时，天主曾在那里显现给他。	⁷And he built there an altar, and called the name of that place, The house of God: for there God appeared to him when he fled from his brother.
⁸其时黎贝加的乳母德波辣死了，就埋在贝特耳下面的一株橡树底下；为此给这橡树起名叫「悲泣的橡树」。	⁸At the same time Debora the nurse of Rebecca died, and was buried at the foot of Bethel under an oak: and the name of that place was called, The oak of weeping.
⁹雅各伯由帕丹阿兰回来后，天主又显现给他，再祝福他。	⁹And God appeared again to Jacob, after he returned from Mesopotamia of Syria, and he blessed him,
¹⁰天主对他说：「你原叫雅各伯，但以后不再叫作雅各伯，却要叫作以色列。」遂给他改名以色列。	¹⁰Saying: Thou shalt not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name. And he called him Israel.
¹¹天主又对他说：「我是全能的天主，你要生育繁殖；不但一个民族，而是一些民族要由你而生，许多君王要由你而生。	¹¹And said to him: I am God Almighty, increase thou and be multiplied. Nations and peoples of nations shall be from thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins.
¹²我将赐给了亚巴郎和依撒格的土地赐给你；我也将这土地赐给你未来的后裔。」	¹²And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give to thee, and to thy seed after thee.
¹³然后天主就在与他谈话的地方，离开他，上升去了。	¹³And he departed from him.
¹⁴雅各伯在天主与他谈话地方，竖立了一根柱子，一根石柱；在上面行了奠祭，倒上油。	¹⁴But he set up a monument of stone, in the place where God had spoken to him: pouring drink offerings upon it, and pouring oil thereon:
¹⁵雅各伯给天主与他谈话的地方起名叫贝特耳。	¹⁵And calling the name of that place Bethel.
¹⁶他们由贝特耳起程出发，离厄弗辣大还有一段路程时，辣黑耳要生产，感觉难产。	¹⁶And going forth from thence, he came in the springtime to the land which leadeth to Ephrata: wherein when Rachel was in travail,
¹⁷正当难产之际，收生婆对她说：「不要怕，你这次还是生个男孩。」	¹⁷By reason of her hard labour she began to be in danger, and the midwife said to her: Fear not, for thou shalt have this son also.
¹⁸辣黑耳将要断气快死的时候，给他起名叫本敖尼；但他的父亲却叫他本雅明。	¹⁸And when her soul was departing for pain, and death was now at hand, she called the name of her son Benoni, that is, The son of my pain: but his father called him Benjamin, that is, The son of the right hand.
¹⁹辣黑耳死了，葬在去厄弗辣大，即白冷的路旁。	¹⁹So Rachel died, and was buried in the highway that leadeth to Ephrata, this is Bethlehem.
²⁰雅各伯在她坟上立了一块碑；这块辣黑耳坟上的碑，至今尚存。	²⁰And Jacob erected a pillar over her sepulchre: this is the pillar of Rachel's monument, to this day.
²¹以色列又起程前行，在米革达耳厄德尔的那一面支搭了帐幕。	²¹Departing thence, he pitched his tent beyond the Flock tower.
²²以色列住在那地时，勒乌本竟去与他父亲的妾彼耳哈同睡；以色列后来闻知了此事。	²²And when he dwelt in that country, Ruben went, and slept with Bala, the concubine of his father: which he was not ignorant of. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve.
²³雅各伯的儿子共计十二人。肋阿的儿子：雅各伯的长子勒乌本、西默盎、肋未、犹大、依撒加尔和则步隆。	²³The sons of Lia: Ruben the first born, and Simeon, and Levi, and Juda, and Issachar, and Zabulon.
²⁴辣黑耳的儿子：若瑟和本雅明。	²⁴The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
²⁵辣黑耳的婢女彼耳哈的儿子：丹和纳斐塔里。	²⁵The sons of Bala, Rachel's handmaid: Dan and Nephtali.
²⁶肋阿的婢女齐耳帕的儿子：加得和阿协尔：这些都是雅各伯在帕丹阿兰生的儿子。	²⁶The sons of Zelpha, Lia's handmaid: Gad and Aser: these are the sons of Jacob, that were born to him in Mesopotamia of Syria.
²⁷雅各伯来到了克黎雅特阿尔巴，即赫贝龙的玛默勒他父亲依撒格那里，即亚巴郎和依撒格曾寄居过的地方。	²⁷And he came to Isaac his father in Mambre, the city of Arbee, this is Hebron: wherein Abraham and Isaac sojourned.
²⁸依撒格享寿一百八十岁。	²⁸And the days of Isaac were a hundred and eighty years.
²⁹他年高老迈，已享天年，遂断气而死，归到他亲族那里去了；他的儿子厄撒乌和雅各伯将他埋葬了。	²⁹And being spent with age he died, and was gathered to his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
