| 1与众寡合的，只求私意；对任何指教，都表忿恨。 | 1He that hath a mind to depart from a friend seeketh occasions: he shall ever be subject to reproach. |
| 2愚昧的人不喜爱受教，只爱显露自己的心意。 | 2A fool receiveth not the words of prudence: unless thou say those things which are in his heart. |
| 3邪恶一来，轻视随到；侮辱也随无耻而至。 | 3The wicked man when he is come into the depth of sine, contemneth: but ignominy and reproach follow him. |
| 4哲人口中的言语有如深水，又如汹涌的溪流，生命的泉源。 | 4Words from the mouth of a men are as deep water: and the fountain of wisdom as an overflowing stream. |
| 5在判案时，徇恶人之私，加害于义人，实属不公。 | 5It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to decline from the truth of judgment. |
| 6愚人的唇舌，常引起争端；愚人的口舌，常自招责打。 | 6The lips of a fool intermeddle with strife: and his mouth provoketh quarrels. |
| 7愚人的舌，使自己丧亡；他的嘴唇，是害己的陷阱。 | 7The mouth of a fool is his destruction: and his lips are the ruin of his soul. |
| 8进谗者的话，如可口美味，能深深透入肺腑的深处。 | 8The words of the double tongued are as if they were harmless: and they reach even to the inner parts of the bowels. Fear casteth down the slothful: and the souls of the effeminate shall be hungry. |
| 9懒于操劳的人，是败子的弟兄。 | 9He that is loose and slack in his work, is the brother of him that wasteth his own works. |
| 10上主的名号，是坚固堡垒；义人投入内，必得享安全。 | 10The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the just runneth to it, and shall be exalted. |
| 11富人的财产，是他的坚城；在他意想中，像座高墙垣。 | 11The substance of the rich man is the city of his strength, and as a strong wall compassing him about. |
| 12心傲是灭亡的前导，心谦是光荣的前驱。 | 12Before destruction, the heart of a man is exalted: and before he be glorified, it is humbled. |
| 13未听而先答，实愚昧可耻。 | 13He that answereth before he heareth sheweth himself to be a fool, and worthy of confusion. |
| 14刚毅的精神，能忍受病苦；若精神萎靡，有谁能支持？ | 14The spirit of a man upholdeth his infirmity: but a spirit that is easily angered, who can bear? |
| 15明智人的心，必获得学问；智慧人的耳，必探求知识。 | 15A wise heart shall acquire knowledge: and the ear of the wise seeketh instruction. |
| 16礼物能给人大开门路，引人晋谒权贵。 | 16A man's gift enlargeth his may, and maketh him room before princes. |
| 17先诉理者似有理，对手来时再审断。 | 17The just is first accuser of himself: his friend cometh, and shall search him. |
| 18抽签可以使争端平息，也能调解权贵的纠纷。 | 18The lot suppresseth contentions, and determineth even between the mighty. |
| 19兄弟若不和，比坚城还攻克；他们的难辩，有如碉堡的门闩。 | 19A brother that is helped by his brother, is like a strong city: and judgments are like the bars of cities. |
| 20人必以口中果实充满肚腹，必饱尝自己唇舌的出产。 | 20Of the fruit of a man's mouth shall his belly be satisfied: and the offspring of his lips shall fill him. |
| 21死亡和生命，全在乎唇舌；放纵唇舌的，必自食其果。 | 21Death and life are in the power of the tongue: they that love it, shall eat the fruits thereof. |
| 22谁觅得了贤妻，便觅得了幸福，得了上主恩眷。 | 22He that hath found a good wife, hath found a good thing, and shall receive a pleasure from the Lord. He that driveth away a good wife, driveth away a good thing: but he that keepeth an adulteress, is foolish and wicked. |
| 23贫穷的人哀恳乞怜；富贵的人厉声以对。 | 23The poor will speak with supplications, and the rich will speak roughly. |
| 24交朋友过多，必会有损害；但有些朋友，远胜亲兄弟。 | 24A man amiable in society, shall be more friendly than a brother. |
