| 1我儿，你前去服事上主时，应固守正义与敬畏，并应预备你的心承受试探。 | 1 Son, when thou comest to the service of God, stand in justice and in fear, and prepare thy soul for temptation. |
| 2使你的心居正不偏，坚忍不拔；应侧耳听取明智的言语；在灾难中，不要慌张。 | 2 Humble thy heart, and endure: incline thy ear, and receive the words of understanding: and make not haste in the time of clouds. |
| 3应静心等待天主的照顾，与天主保持联系，总不要离弃他，好使你至死充满幸福。 | 3 Wait on God with patience: join thyself to God, and endure, that thy life may be increased in the latter end. |
| 4凡降到你身上的，你都要接受；在痛苦中，你要忍受；在各种困苦中，你要多多忍耐； | 4 Take all that shall be brought upon thee: and in thy sorrow endure, and in thy humiliation keep patience. |
| 5因为金银应在火里鍜炼，天主所喜悦的人，也应在谦卑的火炉中鍜炼。 | 5 For gold and silver are tried in the fire, but acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation. |
| 6你只管信赖天主，他必扶持你；你应修直你的道路，要仰望他，要保持敬畏他的心，至死不替。 | 6 Believe God, and he will recover thee: and direct thy way, and trust in him. Keep his fear, and grow old therein. |
| 7你们敬畏上主的，要等待他的仁慈；不要离开他，免得跌倒。 | 7 Ye that fear the Lord, wait for his mercy: and go not aside from him, lest ye fall. |
| 8你们敬畏上主的，要信赖他，你们的赏报，就不会落空。 | 8 Ye that fear the Lord, believe him: and your reward shall not be made void. |
| 9你们敬畏上主的，要希望幸福，及永远的喜乐和救恩。 | 9 Ye that fear the Lord, hope in him: and mercy shall come to you for your delight. |
| 10你们敬畏上主的，要爱慕他，你们的心灵，就会蒙光照。 | 10 Ye that fear the Lord, love him, and your hearts shall be enlightened. |
| 11请你们追念前代，看看有谁依赖了上主，而受了耻辱？ | 11 My children behold the generations of men: and know ye that no one hath hoped in the Lord, and hath been confounded. |
| 12有谁保持了对他的敬畏，而被遗弃？有谁呼求了他，而被他轻视？ | 12 For who hath continued in his commandment, and hath been forsaken? or who hath called upon him, and he despised him? |
| 13因为，上主富于慈惠宽仁；在患难中，赦免罪过，并施救恩。他是一切真心寻求他的护卫者。 | 13 For God is compassionate and merciful, and will forgive sins in the day of tribulation: and he is a protector to all that seek him in truth. |
| 14祸哉，怯懦的心，邪恶的口，虚弱的手，及徘徊于两条路的罪人！ | 14 Woe to them that are of a double heart and to wicked lips, and to the hands that do evil, and to the sinner that goeth on the earth two ways. |
| 15祸哉，心无志气的人！他既对天主没有信赖，决得不到他的保护。 | 15 Woe to them that are fainthearted, who believe not God: and therefore they shall not be protected by him. |
| 16祸哉，你们失去坚忍，离弃正道，喜欢走邪路的人！ | 16 Woe to them that have lost patience, and that have forsaken the right ways, and have gone aside into crooked ways. |
| 17因为，当上主视察你们时，你们将作什么？ | 17 And what will they do, when the Lord shall begin to examine? |
| 18凡敬畏上主的，决不背弃他的言语；爱慕他的，必遵循他的道路。 | 18 They that fear the Lord, will not be incredulous to his word: and they that love him, will keep his way. |
| 19凡敬畏上主的，必寻求他的欢心；爱慕他的，必饱尝他法律的奥义。 | 19 They that fear the Lord, will seek after the things that are well pleasing to him: and they that love him, shall be filled with his law. |
| 20凡敬畏上主的，必常预备自己的心，在他面前谦卑自下。 | 20 They that fear the Lord, will prepare their hearts, and in his sight will sanctify their souls. |
| 21凡敬畏上主的，必遵守他的诫命，直到他来看顾，常怀着忍耐。 | 21 They that fear the Lord, keep his Commandments, and will have patience even until his visitation, |
| 22他们说：假使我们不悔改，我们就必落在上主的手里，而不是落在人的手里； | 22 Saying: If we do not penance, we shall fall into the hands of the Lord, and not into the hands of men. |
| 23因为他是多么伟大，他的仁慈又多么伟大。 | 23 For according to his greatness, so also is his mercy with him. |
